USAID Book Sprint

A new inspiring Book Sprint started yesterday for USAID’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in New Jersey. A dedicated team of lawyers and specialists guided by the Book Sprints’ team are working hard to produce a practical guidebook towards understanding Power of Purchase Agreements (PPA), with a particular focus on Africa. PPA are the contracts which govern the purchase and sale of electric power. The guidebook is intended to offer guidance to decision-makers, offtakers and investors.

The thirteen contributors include representatives from the African Development Bank, World Bank, African Finance Corporation, Standard Bank Group and several private law firms. The first two days have focused mainly on breaking down the concept of the book, agreeing on a structure and writing content in small groups. Tomorrow the group will move into an intensive review process.
