New Book Sprint happening in Marrakesh

At the Palmeraie area, the green lung of Marrakech, yesterday started the second Book Sprint organised together with USAID’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) and the African Legal Support Facility.

The group is writing the second part of the PPA handbook produced with the Book Sprint method last November 2014. The handbook will focus on the financing challenges of power projects and give advice to governments on the different options they can take into account in a PPA – agreement that governs the sale and purchase of power.

The 18 contributors include lawyers, regulators and finance experts from the African Development Bank, the World Bank, OPIC, African governments and several private firms. During the first day we had a vivid discussion on the book scope and structure. So far, we have identified 10 sections and we are working on the first 6!
