Discussing Gender and Sustainability with Hivos ENERGIA

Gender in the transition to sustainable energy for all: From evidence to inclusive policies Produced with Hivos ENERGIA, January 28-31, 2019

In January 2019 the Dutch development body Hivos’s  programme had a very large report to write for their funders, the UK government’s Department for International Development, and they used a Book Sprint to achieve it. It was the culmination of a five-year research project (2014-2019) implemented by Hivos ENERGIA programme providing robust evidence and analysis of the interactions between energy, access and gender. The research focused on five thematic areas, selected through a literature review of current research and needs: electrification productive uses of energy energy sector reform the role of the private sector in scaling up energy access energy and related sector policy dynamics.

The report “Gender in the transition to sustainable energy for all: From evidence to inclusive policies” by Hivos ENERGIA synthesises the research results of nine teams across 12 countries. Look inside this book
